Paris, Gare du Nord

“For me fashion is a freedom”

Name: Ely
Age: 23
Education: Med student
Where do you live? In Paris

Where did I spot you? In the metro heading to Gare du Nord.

I was sitting in the metro when I saw this big black hood sticking out from the crowd. “I have to know what he looks like from the front”, I was thinking, maybe too loud. It was like the big black hood sensed what I was up to and it got out at the same stop as mine and then I began chasing after it like a wolf.

Hi! I won’t bite you, you look fashionable.

Ely: “I’ve been into fashion just recently actually. For me fashion is a freedom, it’s a way to get out of the med school environment. But mostly it’s a way to express myself. Fashion seems a bit shallow, but it’s important to take care of your appearance and to feel good because of that. As long as you don’t get materialistic, then it’s fine.”

Can you describe your style?

“I like anything dark, drapy and black. I’m not really into basic stuff, I like to stand out. Today my look is somewhat medieval. And I have a fascination for hoods. The bigger, the better.”

Tell me what you’re wearing:

Jacket: Rick Owens
Scarf: COS
Legging: Katharina Gruber
Glasses: Pour Vos Beaux Yeux. “The glasses are really old, they are from the 30s.”

Lastly, where do you hang out? “At Social Club and ChaCha Club in Paris. And I crash fashion shows with my friends.”
